Nepal national team forward Anjan Bista is likely to have his debut in the Hero I-League on Sunday against Gokulam Kerela. Anjan who was signed by the Kenkre Mumbai FC for the rest of the season, is playing his first time out of the Nepali soil in any foreign club.
Anjan who reached India on last Saturday & has been training with his new club teammates at Cooperage ground, Mumbai. Kenkre are currently in the relegation zone at 12th position. Meanwhile another Nepal National team member, captain & goalkeeper Kiran Chemjong is also playing in the same league with Round Glass Pnujab FC who are at top of the table.

Kenkre have their upcoming matches with more stronger teams. As they have to collect points in every game to rise from relegation, it seems Anjan will have to wait for a few more games to make his debut in the I-League. Next week on Sunday 29th January, Kenkre are playing another strong team Gokulam Kerala who are at third position in the table. There too Kenkre will start the very playing set benching Anjan. Looking at the state of the game, the possibility of Anjan debuting as a substitute is very strong against Gokulam Kerela.

The 2022–23 I-League (also known as Hero I-League for sponsorship reasons) is the 16th season of I-League, first as the second tier of Indian football league system. It is played from 12th November 2022 to March 2023.
League Format
The traditional home and away games format in a double round-robin where each team will play two matches against every other team at home and away.
The table topper will be declared the league's winner at the end of the season, thereby achieving promotion to 2023–24 Indian Super League, while the two teams with the lowest points will be relegated to 2023–24 I-League 2nd Division.
