Men’s Cricket schedule for Asian Games 2023 announced, Nepal to face Maldives & Mongolia

The 2022 Asian Games is kicking off from 28th September to 8th October. The 19th edition of Hangzhou Asian Games will be featuring 40 different sports including cricket after almost a decades.

Cricket at Asian Games 2023

The 2023 Cricket at Asian Games is kicking off from 27th of September. The competition will be played in T20I format with 13 teams participating. Out of top 4 T20I teams India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & Pakistan, other 9 teams have been grouped in 3 groups.

The Nepali cricket team is in group A consisting of two weak countries, Maldives and Mongolia. In the T20I rankings, Nepal is in 17th place, while Maldives is in 80th place & Mongolia is just starting their t20 cricket from the Asian Games. Japan, Cambodia & Hongkong are in Group B, while Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore are in Group C.

For Nepal national men's cricket team., 2023 Asian Games cricket is seen as a preparation for the 2024 T-20 World Cup Asia Qualifier, which will start from October 30 in the home ground, TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

Only last month, Nepal has announced the team to play Asian Games under the captaincy of Rohit Paudel. India and Pakistan will send A team there. On behalf of India, Rituraj Gaikwad and Pakistan have announced the team under the captaincy of Qasim Akram.
