FIFA International Friendly Update‼️
Nepal national football team is likely to play international friendly football matches in the March FIFA window between 20-28 March (Chaitra 6-14). As there are 2 matches in the window, Nepal is keeping their eye to host an international tournament.
Three Nations Cup 2023
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has prepared to organize the Three Nations Cup football tournament. Soon after the first round break of A division league starting from the 19th of Falgun/ March 3, ANFA is going to host an international football tournament again in the home ground Dashrath Stadium again after 2 years. For the organization of the competition, ANFA has also included the agenda of the competition organization in the working committee meeting. ANFA working committee meeting will be held in Kathmandu on Falgun 17.
When will the Three Nations Cup 2023 happen?
The first round of Martyr's Memorial A Division League will end on Chaitra 4. In the very break ANFA is preparing for organizing the competition. As in the March FIFA window the date for the friendlies has been mentioned between 20-28 March (Chaitra 6-14) with 2 matches on pocket. On the call of National football team closed camp, it will start featuring some of the young and promising talents who will perform better in the league. As there are not more days to spare the friendlies outside, Nepal hosting the friendlies among the home crowd.

Lack of Head Coach in Nepal National Football Team
Nepal is without their permanent head coach since the departure of Abdullah Almutairi back in July last year. Since then, ANFA has been assigning domestic coaches to the national team and making Nepal participate in friendly matches. Back to back 2 times A division league champions Machhindra's coach Meghraj KC was entrusted with the team by ANFA for the friendly match with Pakistan held at Dasharath Stadium last November.
Before that, for the international friendly match against Bangladesh held in the very in September, ANFA appointed Nepalese origin American coach Pradip Humagain as the head coach. It should be remembered that Nepal has not lost a single match under the supervision of these two coaches who have taken charge of the national team after Abdullah.
Who will be the head coach of Nepal for the competition ?
ANFA are trying to go parallel with the organization of the Three Nations Cup & the head coach appointment. They are working to appoint the National team head coach before the start of the league ( may be in between) . As per ANFA General Secretary Kiran Rai even though ANFA will complete the selection work, discussions are being held with the Nepal government and other friendly organizations for the coach's salary. Although he did not disclose the country from which the coaches will be brought in, he said that preparations are being made to bring in the best coaches from all over the world.
Selection through shortlisted applicants:
After the friendly match with Pakistan, ANFA called for the post of the head coach and other staff in all online media including Gorkha Patra on November. In the said vacancy, there was a criterion for the head coach to have a pro-level license from FIFA with the experience as the head coach of any other national football team. According to which, it has been said that almost half a dozen people have submitted applications for the post. Among the same names, ANFA has started preparing to appoint the best person as the head coach of the Nepali national football team.
